Dispatcher

We are looking for a professional and forward-thinking individual to join our G.A.S. team. The ability to multitask in this job is very important. You will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have a strong attention to detail.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Handle incoming customer calls to address equipment, service or contract matters
  • Coordinating freight to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery
  • Maintain and provide accurate records of units and trailers
  • Communicate and problem solve with customers as required
  • Maintain fair and equitable distribution of work
  • Participate in and support driver retention initiatives
  • Ability to work independently
  • Handle paperwork and coordinate with other departments
  • Fast and focused data entry with telephone manners

Qualifications / Experience

  • Knowledge of truck load dispatch is an asset
  • Organize and plan daily freight moves
  • Experience with flat deck freight is an asset
  • Technological proficiency is a must (general computers and learning new programs)
  • Proficient with Excel and Google accounts
  • Ability to produce FDA prior notices is an asset
  • Experience doing ACE/ACI manifests (automated commercial environment, advanced commercial information) 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

Owner Operator / Company Driver

Owner Operators and Company Driver Positions available for local and short haul positions using flat deck and container equipment down the I-5 lanes. Equipment Leases Available.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Weekly submission of paperwork
  • Effective and timely scheduling of load pick-ups and delivery
  • Consistent communication with dispatcher
  • Provide outstanding customer service and representation of G.A.S.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Minimum 2 years driving experience
  • Must have a valid driver's license and passport to cross the US border
  • Clean driver's abstract
  • Must have the ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Tractor must meet current Port of Metro Vancouver environmental standards
  • Must possess at least 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience with flat deck work highlighted
  • Must have a valid TWIC card

Safety and Compliance Manager

Part-time position - G.A.S. is seeking a business management professional who is already certified in safety and compliance or is looking for the opportunity to pursue a certification with BCTA. You will be overseeing all drivers, contractors, vehicles and equipment to ensure the safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of our fleet.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing drivers, contractors, vehicles and all equipment are properly maintained above satisfactory NSC and DOT requirements
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the company’s health and safety policies, transportation policies and procedures
  • Careful and thorough reviews of NSC and DOT safety profiles and track and file any violations recorded on record, and properly choose the correct course of action to take
  • Log book monitoring to ensure that all documents are filled out completely and within NSC and DOT’S hours of service provisions
  • Update our Recall System to ensure all legal documentation, maintenance reports and driver qualifications are properly recorded and kept locked in the office
  • Keep all driver qualifications files up to date
  • Review safety performance trends and develop the appropriate disciplinary action plan where required
  • Produce accident, maintenance and on-road safety reports which specify the particular severity and frequency rates in correspondence to the industry averages
  • Work side by side with an outside audit review company for log monitoring
  • Lead by example with demonstrating the attitude, behaviour and mindset to strengthen our safety structure

Qualifications / Experience

  • NSC and hours of service
  • US Dot Certified
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and organization skills
  • Technological proficiency with new computer programs
  • Strategic thinker with long-term corporate safety vision
  • Proactive and who can work well independently and in a team environment
  • Proficient with MS office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Course certifications will be provided for the right applicant

Sales

Part Time – Outside Sales Representative. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to develop and apply strategies to bring on new business in our current and new markets. This position will be based out of B.C.'s Lower Mainland and includes travel through Washington and Oregon States. The candidate must be able to work independently without supervision.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, pursue, and maintain a constant pipeline of potential customers that meet or exceed established quotas via prospecting, networking and referral activities within our regional market
  • With a thorough understanding of the customers’ business model, price scope, scheduling and credit terms to utilize G.A.S. services to translate into contracted business deals.
  • Build relationships with companies by acting as our transportation consultant, conducting periodic reviews and managing the voice of the customer process
  • Responsible for renewing or extending contracts before or upon contract expiration, as well as identifying opportunities for customer growth in new geographic locations with additional products and services
  • Embrace a culture of integrity and professionalism while utilizing a value-based sales method
  • Develop weekly sales calls plans that focus on development then account maintenance and growth

Qualifications / Experience

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent sales courses
  • 3 years of sales experience
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry

  • Valid passport to travel into the United States
